  I am currently a self employed customer service agent (part time) in inbound telephone sales. I would highly recommend anyone considering self-employment, because in this economy, it's more "stable" and despite the current state of the economy, customers are buying, especially if more people are home more and are spending more of their time doing things around the home. If you sell things that the customer can use and can see the "benefit" of it's use in the home, it's more likely to be purchased by the consumer because it's useful. Being self-employed though, has it's ups and downs as well as sales. When customers money stops coming in, so do they also stop "buying", so it's a career with an income that fluctuates. The income can be great at times, but can also be not so great at times. It's definitely a career choice that you have to be willing to be very flexible in the hours that you choose to work and that you can "survive" on money-wise during the "good" and the "bad" times.

  Food Service Industry - specifically Seattle's Best Cafe inside Borders Books. While I loved my job when I got hired, it grew to be tiring very fast. Corporate was making unreal expectations of us. I never got to work in the bookstore. I applied to a bookstore to work in a bookstore. I dunno, food service was never really my thing.

  The retail business is a hard place to work but if you love interaction with people it is a good career. You must be able to handle stress and angry people easily. I would chose it again because I am a people person. I have tried other jobs, but not happy in them. You meet people on a daily basis and you have your regulars also. Pay is usually lower but if you love people and like to have fun, this is the career for you.

  I work as an independent contractor in the teleservices field making sales of all kinds working with various virtual call centers. Offering great customer service and providing the customer with the service and help they need in making their purchases. Sales is the only line of work I know that can yield a great income and allow you to work from home as an independent contractor. If you are a people person and can be passionate about the things you sell you will go far in a Sales Career. I love the versatility, growth and change that is available. The opportunities in Sales are endless. I especially like sales in the Hospitality and Travel Industry. Patience perseverance and a bit of tenacity while always being kind, courteous and truthful will yield great success.

  I work in teleservices, not telemarketing where I would make outbound calls-people call me to place orders.

I enjoy it because I can make my own schedule and I work from home. It is perfect for a mother who wants to be accessible to her children. The pay is also good.

  I am a sales representative of a direct sale cosmetic marketing company. I am not fully satisfied with this profession and off course I would not recommend any one to join any kind of these companies.In fact they work like a MLM(Multi level marketing)or pyramid scheme.So I would say beware of all these pyramid schemes company. The products we buy from the company are very expensive as compared to the other brands available in market and so it is really hard to sell the products.I have loose a lot of dollar in this so called business...and I am deciding to quit very soon. I will never adopt this career again.

  I worked for a marketing company and it was interesting. If you are a people person then the job is for you. some people can be rude and won't give you the time of day due to the stigma of selling credit cards. It's a pretty laid back job and you get to talk to people.

  I had to do too much just for minimum wage. Had to clean the whole store and clean out the animal cages(I love animals so I didn't mind it so much). Selling the animals would give you a big increase on your paycheck-it's sad that's the only good thing i can say about the job. It was a competition because everyone was working on commission so someone ,if you were not attentive, could still your customer. I had to quit that job, it wasn't worth it. If you are looking for a job don't get one being a sales associate that works on commission, it's too much stress.

  I've been a consultant with Natural Family Boutique for four years and now that they've changed to the Affiliate model, I'm very happy to be working with them. If I was to do it all over, I would do it in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this company and would tell people that by working with NFB, they're contributing to helping change the future for families everywhere.

  The sales rep position can be very tricky you are trying to sale something to a client and keep your company happy and trying not to push to much with the client so you may earn a little for not pushing to hard. I dislike the sales portion of my job quite a bit. The part I enjoy the most is merchandising, this part for me is relaxing and enjoyable.

  Being in outside sales has is advantages and disadvantages. You get to me lots of people and get out of the office. FOr me staying in an office would make me go crazy. There is a huge rush when you make a sale but you do have to deal with a lot of negativity and rejection. The one thing that has helped me is when some one says no don't take it personally their not rejecting you they are rejecting the product. Also if you believe in your product you will be more productive!

  In my career, I have an immense amount of freedom. This gives me the opportunity to work around important family related events. Interacting with professionals in the banking industry is very exciting. Currently the banking industry is going through a payment system re-birth, everything is moving to an electronic platform. Being part of this significant industry shift, brings added satisfaction to my work. Every day there are new challenges which create new opportunities to see and do things in exciting new ways. I would highly recommend my job to anyone who enjoys enteracting with people.

  I worked as an assitant to the sales department of an e-mail marketing company. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys working in a fast paced sales world! If I had to do it all over again, I definitely would not change anything. Mostly everyone I worked with was friendly, but you do not have to have too much face to face contact. Many clients are only dealt with over the phone or through e-mail, making it a lesser pressure job. The important thing to know is that you will have a hand in creating e-mails that many popular companies will use for their promotions.

  If I had it to do over again I would still go into sales. The training I have been given at past jobs has afforded me to now be able to telecommute. No gas expensives, daycare, or work clothes. And if you are good you basicly can write your own paycheck. Just prepare for down-times (always save for a rainy day).

  I have a career in retail sales. I have sold everything from clothes to book and even computer software. I recommend this career mainly for young people--either in college or right out of it. I enjoy interacting with people, so I would recommend it to someone who is a "people person." The good thing is that there are thousands of retail jobs available at any given time and that number increases during Christmas. The downside is that some jobs don't pay well, but most jobs give you employee discounts.
