I have been an insurance examiner for property and casualty claims for three years now. If you are considering this career, you should have good attention to detail and be able to learn and understand legal terms and policy language. If you are coming in at entry level, you'll likely begin by learning about policy language, construction and healthcare terms, and the legal environment surrounding claims. If I had it to do over again, I would stay in insurance but pursue a different path, as while the details of every day change with the claims you're assigned, the basic process is the same and I prefer a more dynamic environment. Pros include good pay and the fact that most companies provide training. Cons include repetitiveness and long hours during catastrophe situations.
