How do I know which forum to post in? We have nearly 3,000 forums but it's simple to find the ones you're interested in. All our forums are arranged hierarchically in folders, so it's easy to navigate. You can also jump directly into a forum from other areas of our site. For example, most colleges, careers and majors link directly to a specific forum. The search tool also allows you to find forums based on keywords that match the subject you're interested in. How do I join in? Please review our Community Guidelines before you start posting. Once you've found the forum you're interested in, you'll see many "topics". These are also referred to as "threads" on some bulletin board systems. You can post a response on someone's topic, or start one of your own by clicking on the "New Topic" button located at the top and bottom of the list of topics. Messages may expire after a few months (if the topic is no longer active). If the post continues to receive new replies, it will not be archived. Back to top |
|
How do I post a reply? Click on the "Post Reply" button located at the top and bottom of the discussion thread. After typing your message, you have the following two options: "Preview" lets you see how it will appear to others, and "Submit" will send your message directly to the board where it can be read by others. Congratulations — you've just posted a message!
Alternatively, you can quote a message using the "Quote" button found in the upper right-hand corner of any message. Quoting works the same way as posting a reply, but it also inserts a copy of the specific message you're responding to. Back to top |

How do I use the Bold, Italics and Underline? After you have typed your message, use your cursor to highlight the section you'd like to have in bold, italics or underlined. What's wrong with typing in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS? Typing in all capital letters is considered shouting online, which is something you should avoid doing. When you shout, the meaning of your message might be misinterpreted. All of our members are expected to be courteous and respectful of others. For more specific guidelines on posting and community participation, see our Community Guidelines. Back to top |

I posted a message, but then changed my mind. How do I delete or edit it? You can edit your posts by simply clicking the "Edit" button in the upper right-hand corner of your posts. You can delete your posts by clicking the Delete button (this is the button marked with an "X"). Please note that you cannot delete a post once someone has replied — once someone has replied, you can only edit your message. Back to top |
