Physics is the basis of all sciences.So getting a degree with physics as major benefits a lot.It gives the foundation to go to any field.I recommend this. Sure I will choose it again. It may be a little difficult with mathematics and experiments.

  Physics, General:

 Physics has a steep learning curve, but if you stick with you gain quantitative and reasoning skills that are way beyond what most other majors provide. Even if you don't wind up as a professional physicist, those skills will serve you well in a variety of careers. It's a tough road to travel, but I'd do it again.

  Nuclear Physics:

I will recommend the people to take topic if they have a good mathematical background and also having interest in this dry subject. Since I have strong mathematics background, I like numerical problem solving. This subject is dry and imaginative but i like its numerical problems. Definately if I beg a chance to study again i would like to study it in more detailed. I had worked in Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, where nuclear reactor is there. I have keen interest in neclear and atomic physics.

  Theoretical and Mathematical Physics:

If you major in physics you have will have no women in any of your classes or possibly one or two at the most. This is probably the most difficult field of study with the exception of aerospace engineering so be warned of that. I probably would not do this if i had to choose all over again. The best gain from this major is that you will be immensely more intelligent after all is said and done. Also, you need a Ph.D. if you want a six-figure salary before you are forty. Also, the solid state specialization of condensed matter physics is ridiculously lucrative (six-figure entry salaries!) but incredibly boring.

Need PhD to get most jobs. If doing a related field like computer, you'll need another degree too.

Physics changes a great deal at the graduate school level, and becomes more abstracted away from every day experience, becoming more purely mathematical. I would recommend it to those who have a passion for it. Informational interviews with physicists might be a good idea. If I had to redecide, I would choose computer science instead, but that is because that became my passion instead. I still have good feelings towards physics, and a degree in physics has not hindered my career as a software engineer.

Physics is hard subject. It is very work-intensive, and it is not for all people. I would recommend this for people who enjoy both science and mathematics. I would definitely do this over again. This is a very hard major, but it really makes you think about the world.

  Elementary Particle Physics:

 I strongly recommend it for anyone strong in high-school maths and/or physics and for an interest for "how stuff works". You'll be discovering how stuff works all the way to how the universe works! And the problem-solving skills acquired throughout college will come useful also to solve all other kind of problems in the future career. Would I do it again? Yes, immediately: you do not only learn about the technical stuff but you learn by doing and by analysing how people have done things. Instead of merely absorbing knowledge you solve problems and this trains you for future opportunity to career switch. Part of the maths you have to sweat through will come back very useful for a possible switch to financial analysis. Pros: - Majoring in a cutting-edge scientific field is rare, usually you learn "old" stuff. This is new and projects you into research - International field, vaste community, cutting-edge technology in the classrooms Cons: - Let's face it: that's hard - Long and steep training curve before the fun starts

Make sure you really love phyics, meaning: understanding hard concepts and doing hours of physics homework problems. A B.s. in physics can get you teaching at a high school, but if you want to do a little more, you will need your phD.

Learn your math well. Physics will help you to think carefully and it will stretch your mind. I would still take this major. If you're looking for a job, you'll probably need more than just a bachelor's degree but it's a great learning experience.

Some advice I would give is only enter this career field if you are a lifetime learner and a person that is willing to study hard. I would recommend this to anyone who is good in math and the sciences, just be careful, if it doesn't seem like a good fit get out while you can. I would definitely choose this to be my major again. The pros are that you can work just about anywhere. There aren't many cons besides the hard work and the continuing evolution of the field.

I went to a small liberal arts college. I was from that town, could live at home, and they had a 2+2 program with a major engineering institution that I found attractive. About a year and a half into it, I switched to physics because I enjoyed the subject matter.

CONS - It's not a terminal degree, which was a pill to swallow. I am currently in a PhD program. Out of nine graduating students, only two were able to get decent employment with only the B.S. degree, and one of those is in a position which utilizes no skills obtained by the major. The remaining seven have all pursued advanced degrees in physics, engineering, medicine, or seminary.

PROS - If you are considering an advanced degree, then physics is a great place to start. It's an excellent discipline with respect to science, engineering, and applied mathematics, but on a deeper level, it will train you to think about any problem in a controlled fashion. Developing an understanding of things from a "first principles" approach is a valuable asset to possess. Choosing physics as an undergraduate degree does not lock you into being a scientist, but may very well open many doors that you did not know could be opened.

If I had it to do over again, I would do everything just the same way. I got involved with undergraduate research early, and that has paid off for me in this stage of my life. I don't think there is another major for me.

Studying physics is an excellent academic pursuit. It's a very difficult and challenging major that comes with a lot of respect. Getting a degree in physics will make you strong in math and in science in general. Physics degrees are best suited for carreers in academia. An undergraduate degree in physics can be used for enegineering jobs as well. However the jobs are a bit more difficult to get. Those who pursue physics should be interested in the subject because it will require dedication and hard work.
