  Computer Science:

It was an extremely enjoyable major with great potential for jobs and future earnings. Has an extremely high dropout rate though; only do it if it's what you truly want to do.

Technically, my major was called Microcomputer Specialist. The basis is to give an overview and make a "Jack of All Computer Trades" which is a double-edged sword. If you want to work in a small business environment and be the only IT person on staff, this course is for you, but nothing I learned was detailed enough to be competitive in the enterprise market.

Computer science is a great major for those who wish to form a strong background in the vast techinical details of computers and their operation. It is *not*, however, a degree choice that will prepare you for the workplace. As a computer science graduate, you will have a strong technical background and understanding in computers, but may be heavily lacking in the business domain knowledge in which most of your carrers will exist.

Studying computer science is only the way to get your way to the best future. we are living in the digital age, and everything involve the keyboard into it anywhere.
I am very satisfied that I attended computer courses which gave me more challenge and ability to run side ti side with the world

  Computer Science:

Pro: You learn how to program computers, which is becoming an increasingly important skill. You have a broad range of fields to work in when you graduate. Con: Much of what you learn will become obsolete in a few years. It's not as rigorous as pure mathematics, so you'll have a hard time getting into grad school for math.

  Artificial Intelligence and Robotics:

An interesting area a bit too much ahead of its time, not recommended for those seeking a way to make a fast buck. I would recommend it to those technically inclined but with a scientific mind, which is why I do not regret having chosen it. Good: you'll learn bleeding edge stuff, and open your mind. Bad: not the most employable of majors, per se.

  Computer Science:

The computer science major was challenging, but fun, if you like writing software and learning about the underlying principles of computer science. The most challenging courses were the math courses which were intentionally difficult. They were considered to be a gateway. If you couldn't get through them you probably shouldn't be in the computer science program. The projects like writing an operating system or a compiler were the most fun.

  Computer Graphics:

I attend college for computer graphics and multi media design. This is where the furte is at people! Not many colleges offer this program but it is a nice and easy feild to go into. I read somewhere that over the next 25 years the most jobs offered are going to be in technology related feild like graphic design. Its fun and hands on you cant beat that. If you have original idea and creativity this feild is for you. I strongly advice graphic design!

I'd recommend taking computer science as a major if you have an interest in the subject before you start and are interested in all the aspects of the subject: programming, psychology, communication skills. I'd suggest to people considering taking computer science that it is not all programming and maths, which are important, but also team work, communication and understanding users and clients needs.

I do not consider this to be a good major, however, the experience from the classes I took have assisted me in my career. Yes, I would choose this major again, but I would defy my college advisors recommendation to study on this major. The pros are that I am able to adapt to whatever system is available with ease. I am not afraid to "mess up" the whole system with a few keystrokes. I am comfortable with any program/system and learn it quickly. Cons are that I have not been able to USE my degree and its earning potential. Computers have changed so quickly that the classes I took were obsolete almost immediately upon my completion of them.

  Computer Science:

If you are interested in computers and programming then this would be a major for you. If you are considering this major and are not sure if you like programming or not then I would suggest getting a book from the library or finding something online about learning a programming language, Java would probably be a good one to start with. Try doing it on your own and if you like it then you would probably like the major, if you don't then you probably wouldn't. Also you should be interested about other things computer related like networks, databases, and things like that. I enjoyed this major and had fun taking the classes for it and if I were doing it again I would still choose this major. If you do choose this major then something you should probably do during school is get some work experience. During the summer be an intern or do a REU or a co-op. This will help after you graduate to get a job since you will already have experience. That is the main problem I've had, I didn't work during school and am having a hard time finding a job because of it. But I still enjoyed this major a lot.

Computer Science is a very versatile degree. Computers are an integral part of modern society. It was very difficult for me to complete this degree program and I am proud of this achievement. Because of the difficulty, it took me six years to complete my degree instead of four. This is common among students who choose difficult majors. This means two additional years as a starving student. If you choose an easier major, you can graduate sooner and start earning money.

There was a lot of math required for this major. I recommend a strong math background if you decide to study computer science.

Computer Science graduates continue to enjoy a very high average starting salary; yet the degree requirements are not as tough as the engineering disciplines. This means you can get a higher payout for less effort with Computer Science than with an engineering major.

If I could do it over again, I may have chosen a slightly easier major such as Management Information Systems. The difficulty of Computer Science almost caused me to flunk out of college at one point. I was trying to work a night job as a security guard and it cut into my study time. I had to quit the job after I failed a couple of classes. If you choose a tough major like computer science it is better if you are financially able to focus only on your studies. I took out some loans and was able to salvage a 3.1 grade point average. I had $27,000 in debt by graduation. After graduation, I used financial discipline to gradually pay off my debts. 10 years later, I am debt free and have several investments. My Computer Science skills helped me to secure a healthy salary.

if you plan in taking this course make sure that you love computers dont take this course if you only took it for the sake of finishing college because if you do, take my word for it, you will not be able to finish college in time. if i were to choose my course again i will choose the same thing because i love the challenge that comes with this. the cons that i see in this course is if you dont have a pc . if you don't have any then you will have a hard time finishing the subject

The programming aspect of computer science is not for everyone. It requires much patience an problem solving skills. Do not go into this major simply because you like "the internet" or computer in general. If you can find yourself sitting at a computer/laptop working on a single problem for several hours, then programming may be for you. You will be required to learn everything about it and fixing errors you may find. Overall it was a good experience for me and I find myself a good fit for this major.

  Computer and Information Sciences, General:

If you like working with computers, but don't want to get too in-depth with very low-level programming, advanced math, or, really, anything more than you would be involved with while doing what most people do in an IT job, this is a good major for you. If I had to choose a major again, I would personally go with a straight Computer Science major. What you have to realize is that, for CIS, the emphasis is more on the Information and less on the Science. Being who I am, I would love to program compilers, create new operating systems, simulate crazy physics scenarios, and that kind of thing. CIS is more about dealing with business data in databases or data entry programs, processing math formulas on financial data, understanding user requirements, analyzing business practices in order to make better programs for them, etc. In other words, this is a great degree for getting an IT job. However, if you think you're going to geek it out hardcore or do any major research based on this degree, you're going to be disappointed. And based on what I've seen after trying to get a job, just about NO ONE will turn down someone with a Computer Science degree for an IT-related job. On the other hand, there are a fair number of jobs where a CIS degree will put you a little lower on the scale for consideration.

For the most part, I enjoyed studying Computer Science. I would advise people considering Computer Science that it does not consist of playing video games and chatting on instant messenger as many of my classmates thought it would. If I could redo college, I would still choose this major, although I definitely would've put more effort into my freshmen year.

My major was Management Information Systems. I loved it. Not only did I get to take programming and learn about databases, but I took a lot of business courses as well. The combination was perfect, and really helps in my job today. I would definitely choose this major again. There are so many things you can do with this major, and it let's you explore both the IT and business world.

Developing computer software is a job of intelligence.You develop such a amazing software that will do your work easy.Like take an example of Bank atm machines.Because of this you do not need to go bank and then withdrawl the cash.At Atm just insert a card and get the money.it is a amazing combination of a machine and a software.I think people should go fot this as in this field u are developing new softwares and always doing some creative things
