For those considering Wellesley College, admissions is not looking for those who only excel in their academic studies. They are looking for women who contribute to their communities in ways that make them stand out as women who can and women who will. Be unique and dynamic, show Wellesley why you have the potential to be anything you want to be, and that you will answer the call to that potential.
I would definitely recommend this college as it is an incredible forum for women from all backgrounds and experiences to learn from each other and encourage each other to pursue their dreams. Each student has such incredible potential that they realize while at Wellesley, and the College truly serves as a training grounds for taking on the obstacles of the world. And if I had to do it all over again, I would choose to go to Wellesley without a doubt. It has shaped me as a woman, a scholar, and a contributor to my surroundings.
The pros of Wellesley are the staff who do not allow students to be trained by teaching assistants who do not have a choice in the matter. They are dedicated professors who are respected experts in their fields and are as down to earth as they are intellectually brilliant. The campus is hands down one of the most gorgeous with the fall foliage of the Northeast gracing students with its presence, and the gothic architecture inspiring creativity. The con is, you won't get easy A's here.
If you haven't already heard, we have Platform 9 and 3/4 nestled in one of the stairwells. There are a series of secret underground tunnels that connect most buildings to each other. The Scream Tunnel that occurs on campus during the Boston Marathon is often the favorite running portion for runners of the Marathon. And lastly, our football team has been undefeated since 1875. |

Wellesley College is a beautiful and inspiring liberal arts college for women. It has a rich history full of prestigious alumnae that fills you with a sense of pride and empowerment. I had an overall positive experience at college. The classes are challenging and competitive. There are no male students at Wellesley, but once you are immersed in the culture of higher learning and sisterhood, you hardly notice. However, if you have any aversion to living, working, and learning solely with women, this is not the place for you. There is a large culture of lesbians who host events like the Naked Party and the Dyke Ball. The environment is generally accepting and straight people attend the functions as well. The campus is beautiful, the faculty is talented, and the students are women who strive hard to reach their goals. I am not a drinker and I tend not to party, so Wellesley was a good fit for me with its true focus on education and encouragement of women to succeed. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would because I am proud to say that I went to an excellent women's college and the I am a "Wellesley Girl." |
