I went to this university in 1975. It was a growing campus then and has continued to grow. The city of Conway where the university is located has several other colleges in the city. It is a medium sized city with a clean, relatively safe reputation. I would choose this college again. However, it does not have a national exposure if that is what you need for your diploma when you graduate. The athletic programs generally do very well each year. There have been professional athletes that went to school there.
I attended UCA coming from a small town community. It was a bit of a culture shock for me. There were so many crazy parties that it was very rare for someone not to be talking about what they had done the night before in class the next day. The teachers for the most part just came in and lectured. Very few took the time to learn names there were so many of us in each class. I felt that it was very impersonal. Teachers did not care if I learned the information or if I even attended class.
Founded in 1851, Cooper Union was the first college to prohibit discrimination on the basis of race or religion in its charter.
