I was initially reluctant to go to West Georgia because it was located one city over from where I grew up and I wanted to get farther away from my hometown. However, once I got there I found that college is a different world no matter what town it's in. The instructors I had were knowledgeable and fair. The classes were good sizes-not so many that you would get lost but enough that you could hide in the back row if you hadn't done the assignment! ;) The advisors I had pushed me to set high goals and then helped me achieve those goals. I quickly made friends and pledged a sorority. Overall, it was the best four years of my life! I would highly recommend this university, at least for the first two years of the college experience. The small-town atmosphere allows you to adjust to the changes that college brings compared to high school without being overwhelmed by a gigantic student body. There are diverse groups on campus that should allow anyone to get involved and meet new friends based on common interest and I think that helps you adjust more than anything. The only con I can think of for UWG is the parking! It was awful when I was there but as a positive it forced me to quickly learn how to parallel park and I kept in shape trekking all over campus!
