This is a very nice liberal arts school in the South and a good alternative to the bigger, public University of Memphis which is a few minutes away. My only gripe is that, as an African-American, I felt as if the college wasn't very diverse. However it seems that they are trying hard to court other ethnic groups. Classes are excellent, and it is obvious that the professors care about their students. Socially the school is small and somewhat close knit.
When P.T. Barnum donated money to Tufts University, he did so on the condition that the school's mascot be named after his beloved elephant. The Tufts University mascot has been the "Jumbos" ever since.
