I was very happy with the education I received at CSUSB. I lived on campus in the dorms and also worked on campus. I found many part-time jobs through the campus job postings. I was a photography major in the 80's and right before I graduated in '85 the college became a "university". The classes were smaller and more personalized then. We had unlimited 24-hour access to the darkrooms and it was a safe campus to wander around at any hour of the day or night. The instructors were really interested in their subject and their students, and the smaller class size meant more one-on-one interaction. The campus was spread out and kind of barren back then...the changes I have seen seem to be positive. I would choose this campus again if I had the opportunity to attend again.

I recommend this college for students who are focused, know what they want to do in their career and are committed to leaving in four years.

There tends to be a number of "career students" here due to the relatively low cost and fairly easy classes.

I would choose to go to this school again but would choose classes more wisely and seek out good mentors.

Beautiful campus, good for first-generation students, working students, and non-traditional populations. Also has a young population, greek scene.

A lot of innovative programs to get you on the fast track out in 4 years or less. Lots of study abroad opportunities. Small campus atmosphere. Caring professors for the most part.

Overall a great experience!

First- it is a very commuter based college, and many students are older. There is not the most active student life there, however, that is changing. I would recommend the teachers here, who actually do teach, and not just do research and ignore you. I am happy with my time there, but nothing was very challenging and the students seem like they all transferred from Community Colleges.
The economics depratment was very cutting edge, but the history instructors seemed very inept.Th campus itself is very pleasant and a nice place to hang out, but since its right at the base of the cajon pass, it can be very windy, once classes were cancelled because of high winds.
Overall, nice for the underachiever who didn't get gret grades and a pretty place to spend your years, if not always the most exciting location on earth.
