While most of the teachers are good and classes are interesting, the college falls short in two areas - first, it is FAR too dificult to get into the classes you want - and in some cases need to take - and second, the college is FAR too politically correct, going as far as to request students don't use the term 'freshman' because it has the word 'man' in it. In addition, far too many race or gender based classes and groups exist.
About a third of the students at Washington and Lee University still receive some financial aid from interest on an endowment set up by George Washington in 1796.
