  Cornell is situated within "Gorgeous" Ithaca. It is practically in the middle of upstate New York. There are lots of scenic locations, waterfalls, gorges near and even within the campus. However, city dwellers be warned as the nearest decent city life is about 1.5 hours drive away at Syracus.

  This is an extremely big school with a very strong reputation. However, it is in the middle of nowhere. Nearly all of your time will be spent on campus. They have a strong hockey program, and the games are very entertaining to watch. Make sure to try and find tickets to the Harvard-Cornell game.

  I graduated in 1986 from the A&LS (Agriculture and Life Sciences) school. Cornell was fantastic. It's a great place to experience many different things- Fellow students from all over the world, the greek system (good social opportunities), apartment living in a small town, a huge assortment of majors and classes, ivy league type stuff and traditions, small town folks, - the list is endless. Winters are kind of gray. You'll have great memories forever.

  A very beautiful campus, but large and impersonal . . . . can be tough for those used to smaller schools and personalized attention . . ..huge first year lecture-style classes in chemistry and biology are designed to quickly "weed out" pre-med hopefuls. I urge high-school students, especialy those thinking of med school, to take college-level courses such as chemistry, biology, math, etc while in high school and then NOT seek any college credit or advanced placement . . .just take them to learn and then take the basic entry-level chemistry, biology, etc. courses at Cornell: you will stand a MUCH better chance of getting competitive grades and not getting weeded out of your pre-med dreams in the first year. Do this for any other subjects as well that you think you may want to take at Cornell (e.g., math, calculus, physics, psychology, even foreign languages and art if possible . . . .anything that you might want to take at Cornell). This is a highly competitive student body . . .many folks who were/are Harvard and Yale wannabes. Can be stressful . . . .do not recommend for high-anxiety types, people with poor study habits . . .I had both, and it was TOUGH! Good luck!

  This is a great school that offers very many opportunities for undergraduate students. This is the place to go if you are interested in doing research. Professors are all experts in their fields and often make lectures more interesting with anecdotes from their professional lives (this is true moreso for the sciences). If you enter one of the state subsidized colleges at Cornell, you are free to take classes in the private schools, though there is a limit. Though the size of the student body may seem like it would pose problems in finding a social niche, this is not true. In fact, it means that there is a very high chance that you will find people who share your interests. This is great incentive to join a club or publication and get involved. Cornell is great.

  This is a great college that I would recommend for anyone who can get in. They offer a wide variety of courses, including courses such as wines which prove to be very useful in the real world. It can be somewhat tough and teachers expect a lot from you, but you get a lot out of it too.

  Cornell is a wonderful place. No matter what type of people you get along with, you'll be able to find them here...same goes for what you like to study, what activities you like to participate in, what type of food you like to eat... Cornell has everything, including the B.S., but it's easy to ignore that at such a great college.
