This school is very academically rigorous, and there isn't too much social life on campus, so if you are a party girl you might be dissapointed. You get lots of one on one help from professors since classes are so small (60 is about the largest class size there is). They tell you that you can take classes at penn and Swat, but its a pain to get to them as the trains don't run very often. You can do it though. Come to Bryn Mawr if you are academically motivated, not a party girl, and want to really get into details in your subjects.
Be ready to put in four serious years. The workload is heavy in all majors and, although competition is mostly self-directed, you will learn how to write and think like a leader. The pros include: engaging professors, posh dorms and collegiate gothic architecture, fantastic cafeteria food, and nearby Haverford College (where you can live and major). The cons: not enough time to have social lives during the week, a study-study-all-the-time mentality on campus, being in the suburbs rather than downtown Philadelphia, and a lame college newspaper (the college news).
Since Bryn Mawr is a small institution in most of your classes your teaches make an effort to get to know you. When I missed class a few times I had a teacher contact me to make sure I was doing fine. Also the upper division classes are small and discussion based. Sophmore year I was in a seminar class that only had four students. However since the campus is small the party scene is lacking. Basically if want to party you need to go to one of the other colleges nearby.
Bryn Mawr is a place with strong women and stronger academics. This is not a place to come to if you want to find a husband and call it a day. You come here because you want to be a leader. You come here because you are not afraid. You come in a girl and leave a woman. Yes, it has no men here but for you to be successful here that cannot matter to you. Obsess that no one is trying to look down your shirt and you will fail here. It's not the school for everyone, but those of you who are interested in it and intrigued by its mission should explore this school as an option.
