  I absolutely loved BYU. There was such a diversity of courses to take with so many great programs to get your degree in. The school of management was excellent with a broad base of courses to take. They also put a great emphasis on group work and real life scenarios that really helped in transitioning to the working world. I absolutely would go to BYU if I had to choose a school again. My best advice is to get advice from other students on the best teachers. Like all schools, there are some not so great teachers but if you find the best ones, you're set. The biggest con is that winter semester can get really long without a spring break, but you'll be really grateful you didn't have one come the end of April when you're out before everyone else. It really helps with internships and other summer jobs.

  I really enjoyed my time at BYU and I made some life-long friends. If you are going to attend BYU, I recommend starting in the Spring/Summer terms instead of fall - that will give the new student a chance to get familiar with the campus and make friends before the deluge of students shows up and you get lost in the crowd.
BYU is a Mormon college (i.e. Private) and, therefore, can enforce their own rules for continued enrollment. Not only do students have to behave in a particular manner, but they must also adhere to certain dress and grooming standards.

  Anyone who is looking for a school that upholds high moral standards and a dedication to learning will fit in to BYU. If you are looking for a party school, this is not for you. BYU has been named the "stone cold sober school" for several years in a row. What I loved about BYU was that I was surrounded by wholesome friends. The biggest negative that I can think of is that some of the general education classes are huge(1,000 + students in one class). If that is a problem, then I would suggest taking general ed classes at a local school and then transferring them to BYU.

  Being a transfer student at BYU, I can contrast my two different college experiences and honestly say I think BYU is an excellent university. I found the academics far more challenging and the classes more rewarding than my previous university. I loved the interplay of faith and secular-based learning. I found the social environment especially rewarding because I felt I could have all the fun of a party or concert without compromising my personal standards to enjoy it.

  Going to BYU is a great experience. The only advice that I would give to a student considering this college would be to get out as much as possible. Don't hide away in the library or your bedroom studying. Pick an easy undergraduate major, have fun meeting new people and participating in new activities then, after having all the fun for a few years get a graduate degree so you can get a descent job after school. There's more to learn in college than what you do in class. Join a club, meet people from other parts of the country or other countries. BYU will provide you with every opportunity you can imagine to diversify yourself.

  This university is recommeded for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but welcomes those who are not of the faith as well. It is highly conservative and "Mormon" doctrine is incorporated into the curriculum regularly. While most professors are LDS themselves, there are some that are not. I would definatley go to this college again, but am happy where I am at.

  Great values and environment. Large class sizes for some classes, but excellent instructors. I would highly recommend BYU. Good sports teams and extra curricular activites. Provo is not the most exciting college town, but there is a lot going on around BYU. There are plenty of things to do nearby Provo such as hiking, camping, skiing, etc.

  Be spiritually prepared! This is one of the best undergraduate institutions in the nation. I studied biochemistry and am currently attending grad school. BYU has definitely given me stellar preparation for my future career. It is the long-standing "most stone-cold sober" school. So it's a religious university-- if you're not ready for that, then don't go to BYU.

  BYU is very academically rigorous. Be prepared to work hard to get the grade. For any active Latter-day Saint, I would recommend this university. I would pick going to BYU again if I had a do over. The pros include: cheap tuition, great on campus living, some awesome lectures. Cons: studnets have little rights, some topics are discouraged from discussion (thus the religious nature of the university). Here's a tip for you Freshman: make sure you pick out an easy religious professor. You'll have enough hard professors as it is through your major. You don't need this to be hard as well.   If you are looking for a very conservative school with a high standard of living then BYU is for you. My experience at the university has been incredible as I've been able to integrate with students of similar faith and standards while still working with students of diverse background. I would reccomend this school to anyone who doesn't mind the stringent academic and social standards. Being a member of the schools sponsoring faith I was extremely pleased. If I had the opportunity to repeat my undergraduate experience I would have still attended BYU but would have aken the opportunity to study abroad at either the Hawaii or Jerusalem campuses. The pros of the university would be the quality of undergraduate education, the athletics and proximity to activities, and the availability of research opportunities. The cons would be the complete inflexibility of administration and the resistance to change. Make sure you understand the honor code before applying.

  Students who plan on attending BYU should be aware that it is a very competitive academic environment. Teachers are excellent and take their students learning career's seriously. Plan on using them as mentors and diving head on into your studies. Don't expect to come and party a lot at BYU. The main focus is to study, date, marry, and serve. BYU is a very social atmosphere, and all students who attend are expected to participate in weekly activities with their fellow students through church and social activities. The university is full of outgoing and energetic students. Most of the students who attend are socioeconomically middle class, or upper middle class. Poor students may find it difficult adjusting to the atmosphere because of lack of upscale clothing or funds for frequent outings with friends and roomates. On campus jobs are plentiful and pay well enough to supply a student with enough money to survive. I would definately attend the university again if given the chance.

  Excellent school! The environment is great and you will meet friends from all over the world. Professors are exceptional and many have already made their "millions" and teach for free or because they truly love education. I would definitely go to BYU again for my undergraduate degree. Pros - spirituality, beautiful campus, nice classroom, dry campus, nice condos to live in, beautiful mountains. Cons - women bringing kids to class, people dressing like slobs. BYU is challenging, but worth all the work and effort to get in and do well.

  I enjoyed going to BYU for several reasons, and I'll talk about those first: one, the physical campus itself is so nice. They just redid the library and it is beautiful. Unlike other college campuses, there isn't an inch-deep layer of cigarette butts on the ground outside the door to every building. It's very clean and well-kept. Very beautiful. I've heard other people comment on how clean and litter-free the campus is. There is also a lot of cheap entertainment on campus: plays, concerts, etc. My husband is now getting his graduate degree at Ohio State University and everything is two or three times as expensive. Also, if you are LDS you will really enjoy the spiritual atmosphere of BYU. Many of the classes aside from religion classes began with a prayer and doctrinal topics were discussed freely if they fit into the subject matter being discussed. I liked being able to read my scriptures in public without feeling self-conscious. I also really liked being able to fit weekly devotionals into my schedule. I think that BYU helped me to better integrate my faith into all aspects of my life. Aside from religion I think that I got a good education there, especially instruction in foreign languages. Their language programs are EXCELLENT. I transferred there from Gustavus Adolphus College (private college in Minnesota) and would tell a difference. I'm glad I had the experience of going to a non-LDS college and then transferring to BYU, because there were a few cons about attending BYU. The biggest con for me is that it was a very homogenous atmosphere. Of course we are almost all LDS, but LDS people have their own secular culture, which is magnified at BYU. As a result I think some people let themselves become narrow-minded. Also, BYU places a lot of emphasis on getting married. I didn't feel pressured to marry, but I did see a lot of emphasis on marriage which is unique to college campuses but is also very appropriate to the gospel, I think. Even with these cons, I'm glad I attended BYU and would have definitely made the decision again.
