Porter and Chester was the springboard that launched my high tech career. They constantly updated their curriculum with the technology that they were trying to teach. Lifetime job placement also gave me the courage to try... whatever I wanted in life, knowing that I could always go back home and have a career waiting for me. I made the right call going to Porter and Chester.
Pros: High speed learning (2 years worth of material in 1 year), they teach marketable and modern skills, teachers used to be out in the field instead of in academia, lifetime job placement, excellent externships, job retraining available.
Cons: High price for 1 year of tech training, difficult courses leading to high drop out rates, requires year long dedication.
That's the long and short of it. If you're dedicated, if you can stick to the program, you won't be sorry. I've worked in high tech for years, and it all started with Porter and Chester. Then when I moved out of the high tech field, I knew I had a safety net if I ever needed to fall back. Porter and Chester was the best thing I could have done right out of high school. And if I ever wanted to switch to a technical career later in life, I would go to Porter and Chester, not a 4 year school. That should say it all.
