Remember that just because it feels like your hometown, there is no reason to act like Mommy and Daddy are going to handle everything for you. It is still a college, and studying and other responsibilities are still up to you. I met my husband at theis school, so I wouldn't choose another school if I had the chance, but I will say that I don't feel that I was prepared for the laid back approach most of the students had to college. I feel that on a bigger campus, I might have been swallowed up, but I may have also taken my education more seriously. That being said, a student with good study skills and a tight budget could get quite a bit out of the experience. Very affordable tuition, available on-campus housing, and low cost of living (including food and shopping) make an appealing atmosphere for those who can focus on their goals.
Dartmouth was the only college in New England to remain open during the entire Revolutionary War.
