Your experience as a Corporate Trainer can vary greatly according to what company you work for. At best, a Corporate Trainer is an executive, planing the strategic direction of a well qualified team. At worst, this position can be very tedious if you work for a company that regards a trainer as a "talking head" and has a lot of turn over. Training front-line, fresh off the street, employees on the same tasks repeatedly gets old fast. I would recommend this career to people who have a genuine interest in harnessing human potential to advance an organization's cause, but only with an organization that values the role of training in their bottom line.
I'm in Management for the last 3 years and I'm happy with this choice. I've started as a technical support agent on one of the largest wholesale hosting providers. Now I am working as a Manager of Sysadmins in the Technology Department. There are several basic tips for the ones who choose this career. You MUST eager to work. You MUST have interpersonal skills higher than average. And the main thing is to remember the times you were managed by someone. When dealing with people it is very important to remember that all your subordinates and superiors are the human beings and MUST be treated accordingly. You should act in the way that makes people want to speak to you. Hold yourself as an example for your subordinates; make them want to treat their job like you do. Consider their thoughts and feelings. Remember your bosses appreciate not only your ideas but ideas of your subordinates as well. If your subordinate has a great idea and lets you know about it this means you are a good manager and bosses do realize this. Cheers and good luck!
I implement and develop training strategies in the banquet/catering industry. I train servers to set up very large scale business and social events, and how to run the event smoothly. Sometimes these events last for weeks, and the planning is crutial for our success. Every detail is accounted for and every hosts' needs are anticipated. It takes a very well organized program to run our large business, and I write reviews, planning guides, training manuals, contracts, and Event Orders on a daily basis. I have worked a different job almost every day that I have been at this job. I really like it.
