Security is an ever growing field. More and more companies are hiring security company's for various reasons. Depending on what company you choose you may have a good or bad experience. The 1st security company i was with was a very negative experience and almost tainted the image of the security field for me. After some family members kept insisting to give it another try i did. The 2nd company is a well known and worldwide company. The experience i have gained and knowledge i have learned has made the job even easier. I would suggest anyone who is interested do alot of research on the company they are looking to become a member of before jumping in with no knowledge.
Get all the experience you can. Most people entering this career advance to Law Enforcement, such as a Police Officer. Security in the USA is becoming a growing field due to homeland security. I highly recommend this career. If I had to do it all over again, I'd definately choose it. Pros are that you receive good pay and people look up to you. Cons are that you have to work weekends, holidays, and any shift that opens. People should know that security guards are important for protecting a premises - they are there when the normal employees are not. Anything that goes wrong, security guards see it!
