Several years ago, new home construction was a very good business to go into. The need for new homes all across the country was very high. For a skilled tradesman, the pay and benefits can be very rewarding. The work itself can also be very rewarding. Building a custom home just the way the customer wants it can be very demanding but very profitable when the customer is satisfied. There are some downsides to this trade, as there is right now. With the economy the way it is, very few people are building houses. I would definitly go into this trade again, but you have to be prepared to take the good times with the bad. It can also be very physically demanding, with lots of lifting, working in the heat and the cold and working at great heights.
