You need to like people, being an introvert might make it hard. There's always something new to learn in computer technology, which can be challenging. I do like my job, it's nice to meet a lot of people. It's good in terms of mobility, I am moving to Philadelphia next year and there will be a job for my skillset.

Well ,this Receptionist job is a nice decent job without any tensions .

All you need is a "communication skill".

You need to have some computer skills & a knowledge of account also. it is basically a telephone operator cum accountant job.

I feel this is the best carrier for the people with a college degree.

If you know how to talk to people ,you can handle this job very easily.

Being a receptionist is a very rewarding career. It gives you the opportunity to meet a lot of new people and gives you a rewarding feeling because you are able to help people. Although it can be mentally challenging at times it is not a career that is very physically challenging. If you are not able to lift a lot of weight or stand on your feet for extended periods of times it can be a very good career choice for you. The pay can be low to high depending on the company you choose to work for. I would choose this career again because the pay can be very good, it is rewarding for me to help people and to meet new people. A receptionist is usually the first person a client/customer comes in contact with so it is important to put your best foot forward and make a good impression for the company you are representing. To have a career as a receptionist you need to be detail oriented, have good phone etiquette, speak in a clear voice, be organized, have a good personality and be able to act friendly and helpful even when you may not feel well. If you like to meet new people, have the skills and personality it takes to be a good receptionist I highly recommend this career.

The job of a receptionist is very suitable for someone who likes to answer phones and who enjoys dealing with customers. Customer service is the key in this position. Appropriate attire is required in this position to welcome customers; business casual is usually expected. The job doesn't offer a lot of variety and you can get bored easily, which in my opinion is the negative side of this job. In addition to that you cannot expect to get rich as a receptionist. From my experience, most receptionist positions start out at around $7.00 and range up to $12.00. It's a great job to start out with, but you might want to consider working yourself up the ladder and take on more tasks, when time and circumstances allow you to do so.

I would definately recommend this career to anyone who can keep a cheerful face and voice throughout a workday. You have to be internally motivated and not need a whole lot of exterior feedback. You MUST make a great first impression.

I worked as a front desk receptionist in a physician's office. I did enjoy the job for the most part. One thing to remember is that truly, the customer is always right. It does not matter if you, the receptionist, are having a bad day. You must be pleasant and professional at all times, no matter what. That is the biggest negative part of this career that comes to mind.

If you enjoy being around people, enjoy helping people, enjoy talking on the phone, then this would be a career for you to consider. Those are all great things about a job like this. Even on your bad days, if you can help one person, it turns your bad day into a good one.

I absolutely love doing reception. This career is for someone who loves working with people. The receptionist is the first, and sometimes only, person a customer sees...so you as a receptionist feel like a very valued member of the company. It's very rewarding. Obviously, if you aren't a "people person", this isn't exactly the career for you.
