Job Tasks

	Review and evaluate developed x-rays, video tape, or computer-generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Check quality of diagnostic images.

	Operate or oversee operation of radiologic or magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Operate diagnostic imaging equipment.

	Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff. Verify that medical activities or operations meet standards.

	Position imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance, according to specification of examination. Adjust settings or positions of medical equipment. Operate diagnostic imaging equipment.

	Explain procedures and observe patients to ensure safety and comfort during scan. Monitor patient conditions during treatments, procedures, or activities. Explain medical procedures or test results to patients or family members.

	Position and immobilize patient on examining table. Position patients for treatment or examination.

	Take thorough and accurate patient medical histories. Collect medical information from patients, family members, or other medical professionals.
