I am an electronics technician in the US Navy submarine force. I operate and maintain the suite of electronic sensors and periscope equipment that are the eyes and ears of the boat- it's hard work at times, but very rewarding. Not only are you paid to go to highly technical schools which will be beneficial to a career outside the Navy, but you also get ever-increasing responsibility and leadership positions - again, very valuable on the civilian side of things.
Pros:
No experience required to start.
Technical training and leadership experience.
See the world (cliche, but true!).
Cons:
Sometimes long hours.
The military owns you for at least 5 years (if you go subs).
See the world - but not home, for extended periods.
Gotta shave every day.
I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. If you're up for new experiences, and not afraid to jump out of your "comfort" zone, the military could be just the thing for you!
