Being a print operator can be an interesting job. You see lots of different types of printed materials on a daily basis. The days can be long and stressful however as many clients have large, last-minute jobs that they need ASAP. The pay is not too bad also. Unfortunately, you are on your feet all day long which can be quite tiring. You should have a technical mind to do this job and be able to work independently as well as in a team. On the whole it's not a bad job and depending on the company you work for there is plenty of room for advancement as print companies often like to promote from within.
In the 18th and 19th century, hatmakers used poisionous chemicals including mercury in their work. As result, many developed pathological symptons -- an estimated 10% went insane. Hence the term "mad as a hatter" and Lewis Carroll's character, the Mad Hatter.
