I've worked in the mining industry for over 25 years as an underground miner. It's a very challenging position, both physically and mentally. I enjoy my job and the men I work with, but the job does have it's cons. I'm constantly worried about safety while working underground. You're always wondering if the men next to you are following the correct procedure to keep all the miners safe. The pay is good and I would recommend this career to others, but I would also recommend that before going into the mines you take into consideration the dangers. I'm 47 years old and the job has taken a toll on my body, but in this area, mining is the best paying job and I would do it all over again.
