People considering a career in research science need to think about whether they are prepared to move multiple times (and move not just cities, but entire countries) to establish their career and whether they are prepared to accept the relatively low (relative that is to the qualifications required) salaries.
Having said that, I enjoy it. It's a good feeling knowing that you are helping discover new things, details that may help treat or prevent disease. You get to work with a lot of bright (mostly) interesting people from all over the world.
It's not nearly as cool, glamorous, exciting or speedy as 'CSI'might lead you to believe, but I can't imagine doing anything else.
