I obtained a degree in Biochemistry and am currently using it in a Safety capacity. I am the Lab Safety Coordinator for a large university and am in charge of the safety in over 40 labs. I am required to approve chemical orders, discuss appropriate personal protective equipment with labs, maintain chemical inventories, help with basic chemical needs, etc. A career such as this is one that is dynamic and interesting...I never have two days that are the same. I would recommend this career to a person with a strong foundation in the sciences. I don't see a lot of drawbacks for me at this point.
