In the office that i work this job really doesn't pay good at all. I make 9.16 an hour and that with 3 raises. I started out at 8.25 an hour and have moved up within 3 years. This job is very stressful to your eyes because you are working on a computer almost all of the day, in my case 8 hours. It really takes a toll on your eyes after a period of time i have only been working at this job for 3 years and I can see a difference in my eye site. If you are looking for a field to work in the rest of your life i really would not conside this field.
I recently worked in the records department of a small pharmaceutical company. I was able to work with people in all departments of the company and able to learn many different things. The work can be very tedious, involving tasks such as scanning and filing. It's very detailed work and requires great accuracy.
My career as Document Control Administrator is pretty basic. I work in a manufacturing plant and I keep all blueprints, specifications and various other paperwork for archival and reference purposes.
Good computer skills are needed for this position as most of the work is done through Excel or Word and a program called Teamcenter Engineering we use here. Being an Administrator in that program is a plus. Good organization skills is MUST. There is a lot of paperwork and electronic files to keep up with every minute of the day and things have to be organized. Other than that, it's pretty basic. Good people skills are a plus as well as you deal with many coworkers over the course of your day.
