I am a chiropractor's assistant at a small chiropractic clinic. I do therapies such as ultrasound and EMS therapy on the patients before they see the chiropractor for an adjustment. I really enjoy my job and like the challenges that come my way. I work with a very helpful chiropractor who will answer any questions you have about what he does. I did not know much about chiropractic care until I started working for him and now I really do see the benefits of it. The pros of it are its a very steady job with alot of things to learn and keep you busy. The major con would be that by the end of a busy you feel like you should be the one on the table getting your back examined. We deal with alot of people and alot of therapies in a days time and it can be a long time on your feet moving. But I would definitely recommend it to someone looking for a good job in a friendy environment.

Try to find a doctor or practice that offers health benefits and a retirement plan, that way you are not only working yourself silly to make someone else rich. This way you have health benefits that everyone who works should have and also security for your future with a retirement account.

I am a chaplain for a hospital. I would recommend this career to someone who believes they are called into ministry but are not planning to work directly in a church, synagoge or temple. To be hired as a hospital chaplain, one usually has to have a college and a master's degree. Then one must complete Clinical Pastoral Eduacation. Most positions require four credits. This is a clinical training within the hospital setting with classroom instruction, also. Once you are a chaplain you are not paid as well as others in the medical field who have a master's degree and certification. Yet, it is a decent living. You visit patients and address their needs which are more emotional and spiritual in nature--often related to their illness or circumstances that being in the hospital causes in their lives. People are very open to "God" at this point in their spiritual journey. They may not have views like you do, but your job is to support them in their views and help them to draw upon that as a resource for strength.

I currently work within a doctors office as the front end office assistant. We average about 50 patients a day with the main practitioner, though we do up to 75 a day when we have our second, part-time, practitioner present. It's a high-paced, high-energy job but I enjoy it very much. For those interested in the health care field but not wishing to be nurses or doctors or deal with the clinical side of things this is a very good job. You get to interact with the patients, help them and see to their needs and provide a friendly voice and face for their visits, which can sometimes be worrisome. There are sometimes problem patients, and sometimes we have to deal with those who merely wish to seek out and garner narcotic drugs, but they are countered by the good patients. It has long days, sometimes 11 or twelve hours at one time with no lunch or breaks. Other doctors offices can be harder to deal with, such as specialists, and dealing with insurance companies can tempt you to tearing your hair out. But overall being there to help patients and be there is rewarding enough. The pay is not as much as clinical stuff, but the perks of having excellent insurance and more than minimum wage do add up. The best bet for getting into this career is to either get a medical assistant certificate or degree from a two year college or to start by working in reception or registration at a hospital.

Electronic Medical Records, usually called "EMR", is one of the fastest-growing fields in technology and business. For example, a relatively new company such as eClinicalWorks, a popular software manufacturer of EMR software for solo practice doctors all the up to 30-doctors clinics, claims to have topped 40 million dollars in sales last year. Their customers number about ten thousand medical providers at this time, customers who provide their own idependent user forum website called "ecwusers.com". They employ 350 people, and will soon hire an additional 150 full-time workers. That is what I call "nice growth". I would highly recommend this career to anyone who likes to work closely with a variety of people and settings. I would definitely choose this career if I had to do it over again and I would suggest anyone who might be interested in this field to job shadow someone if possible to get an accurate picture of the responsibilities. The pros of this career are that the pay is usually very generous and that the work is varied so it never gets boring. The cons are that it's quite demanding and requires you to be very creative, supportive and willing to give your all every day. Some people might not realize that this career often involved needing a degree even though it may not seem necessary at first glance.

I was a chiropractic assistant for a couple of years and I love it. I learned more about the chiropractic field then I ever knew. Also, it was a very positive environment. The part that I loved was the fact that people were there because they wanted to be. Also, the fact that you could see people getting better without any medication.
I recommend being a chiropractic assistant to anyone. Most offices are open a lot of hours, but you get a two or three hour lunch which is nice.

As a medical receptionist, I have the opportunity of working with some great people. You also get to meet people. The work is very easy and does pay average. Anyone who has an interest in healthcare would benefit from this job. It allows you to see if you want to further your education in the medical field. I plan on getting some sort of certification to continue growing in the healthcare field.

THIS AREA OF HEALTHCARE MAY NOT BE AS NOTICABLE AS OTHER, BUT SUPPORT STAFF ARE NEEDED FOR PROPER RUNNING OF A COMPANY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CAREER, HOWEVER; MUCH DEPENDS ON HOW A COMPANY IS MANAGED. MY EXPERIENCE HAS INVOLVED POOR COMMUNICATION, WHICH HAS LED TO A CERTAIN LEVEL OF FRUSTRATION. THIS HASN'T MADE ME DISLIKE THE ACTUAL WORK I DO. IF I COULD CHOOSE AGAIN, I THINK I WOULD CONSIDER THE SAME CAREER.

I work for a teaching physician as an admin tech. She presents at national meetings as well as for residents. I maintain all her digital photos as well as videos which she uses for teaching purposes. I also create PowerPoint presentations for her based on an outline she has given me. I gather research and journal articles for her as well as locating medical books and other equipment she needs for her practice. I also help everyone else in the office as needed. This position will keep you very busy and your responsibilities often change. This position keeps you on your feet and you are constantly learning. You get to work with doctors, clinical staff as well as clerical staff. The only con is that you feel a bit like an outsider as you are in your own "group."
