i love my job! working around food is so much fun. but however you need to realize that the tip jar is there for a reason the wage is a bit of a downer but you still get the money. this career is great if your just getting your first real job. however i don't recommend it for you if you don't go to college.
I have worked for several years as a stocker - mostly for groceries and department stores. Since it's obviously not a traditional career, don't go into it seeking money or prestige- it's just a job that you go and push through. You keep in great shape, you do somethng useful, and you walk out never bringing a scintilla of work home with you. I'd recommend it for a single man- especially because this position is often overnights. You can rise up and get decent pay finally.
MY nature is not to try and climb the corporate ladder or be a cog in some soulless machine- to me the personal freedoms of just a regular Joe job suit me perfectly.
The pros are very little "office politics" and backstabbing. It's a fantastic workout. It's relatively stress-free. The cons would be that you don't have much power over what you are assigned to do, the pay isn't great, and it's certainly not prestigious or glamorous.
For this carrer you need patience with customers, and would reccomend for people that like helping people. I would not choose this carrer since it does not appease me. The pros are free food, but the cons are you are face paced. They should know it requires alot of work.
