As an Environmental Scientist, I would recommend this career to anyone. This is one of the few jobs that requires you to be an expert in many areas. This allows you to exercise your natural curiosity. I was not able to decide on one field of science that I really wanted to study. I wanted to know about them all. Environmental studies can lead in any direction you want. From water, to air, to land, you can study any of these fields or how they all interact. If you are interested in people, you can study how people interact with the environment. If you are interested in animals, you can study that interaction. If you like to be outside you can, or if you don't there is plenty to do inside. The possibilities are endless. This is why I enjoy environmental work. This also makes the job interesting, because you get to work on so many different type of projects. It is hardly boring.
One thing to think about in this field is that different people (employers) have different goals in mind when they hire an Environmental professional. Some want to do what is good for the environment, and some what to know how to get around environmental restraints placed on them by the government. So beware.
I really enjoy my work, and I think most people can find something to like in the environmental field. The options are only limited by your imagination. |
