The hospitality field can be very rewarding but very stressful and competitive at the same time. Because hotels are open every day of the year, there is a great chance that you will have to work holidays, nights and weekends. Whenever you are needed you must be there to support your organization. You must have excellent customer service skills and learn to deal with the most difficult guests. There is a great deal of room for advancement in the hospitality industry. I have known room service bell boys who have worked their way up to managers of hotels and executives of organizations. It is rewarding when a customer tells you how nice their stay was and that they can't wait to come back. You must learn to work with people from many different backgrounds and cultures and learn to understand and work with those differences. For anyone that enjoys interacting with people, the hospitality industry is a great field.
