Very rewarding, very challenging, and never dull. It is VERY difficult to get there, and right now, it is VERY competitive. But overall, the challenges and the feeling you get when you finish developing a product is amazing.
Working in the high tech world can be very rewarding as the pay is usually good and there are always challenges. Unfortunately, it is also volatile. There have been 4 lay offs in the 7 years I have been working. I survived all of them and am very well paid but I know many people who left and went to more stable work environments. IT has been a good experience but I will probably look elsewhere next time I am looking for a job.
