Honestly, running your own daycare is great for the most part. I love being able to stay at home with my children, and still help pay the bills. I love my job almost everyday. You have to understand that if you have no one to help you, then you are the only one there and that leaves little time for breaks or anything. I have parents that get upset when I have to close for a few hours to take my children to the doctor or dentist or any other appointment that may come up. Luckily for me, this happens very little and I try to accommodate the parents, so I don't have to take off early or anything. One way it is like having a lot of children, but at least they get to go home at the end of the day. I treat every child the same you cannot play favorites by any means. My children get upset because when the daycare kids are here they have the same rules, so they don't get to do the same things they would when it's just our family. You have to round things out to make it fair to everyone. Being a daycare owner, is not always a walk in the park, but it has its own rewards in the end. |

The pay isn't very good, but I have a ton of fun at work. I work part time with Middle Schoolers and we are always playing games, watching movies, going to theme parks, cooking together, and just hanging out. This type of career is good for people who are social, outgoing, and caring. Money better not be the motivation, because there usually isn't very much. It is also good that it is often part-time, if you want to raise a family or pursue other interests then this job frees up your time. |
