You need some common sense and be able to see how many individual systems work together to make the vehicle. You need to know the individual parts of each system, how they work, how they fail, how to test, replace, or repair each of these parts that make up each individual system. The pay is great, the work is easy for trained professionals, and it kind of makes you famous.

I would recommend the automotive repair industry to anyone who enjoys working with cars and trucks diagnosing systems and replacing various parts of those systems. Who also enjoys working with people and helping them solve their vehicle issues. This industry can be physically strenuous and uses lots of hazardous chemicals. such as various types of oils, greases, antifreeze, as well as silicon based sealants and various types of solvents and paints. The industry itself is getting to be more and more complex with the use of computers and complex electrical systems. I would recommend to anyone looking to enter the field to attend some sort of schooling prior to seeking employment. This will give you a better understanding of the workings of the various systems and will also prepare you for diagnostics. Also schooling will increase your chances of better pay.
