I have been a dog trainer for seven years, and I love my job. Be prepared for long hours and working outside in all kinds of weather. Obviously it's important to love dogs, but you need to be comfortable working with all types of people. Great communication skills are essential. Business and psychology courses are highly recommended. Pros: flexible hours, high hourly pay rate, being your own boss. Cons: constantly having to drum up new business -- there aren't a lot of repeat customers!
