Job Tasks

	Drive ambulances or assist ambulance drivers in transporting sick, injured, or convalescent persons. Drive passenger vehicles.

	Remove and replace soiled linens or equipment to maintain sanitary conditions. Clean vehicles or vehicle components.

	Place patients on stretchers and load stretchers into ambulances, usually with assistance from other attendants. Provide first aid or rescue assistance in emergencies.

	Accompany and assist emergency medical technicians on calls. Provide first aid or rescue assistance in emergencies.

	Earn and maintain appropriate certifications. Maintain professional knowledge or certifications.

	Replace supplies and disposable items on ambulances.

	Report facts concerning accidents or emergencies to hospital personnel or law enforcement officials. Notify others of emergencies, problems, or hazards.

	Administer first aid, such as bandaging, splinting, or administering oxygen. Provide first aid or rescue assistance in emergencies.

	Restrain or shackle violent patients.
