My career is as a Helicopter Technician (i.e mechanic). I like the fact that I am able to fulfill my desire to repair mechanical objects. The pay scale is very satisfactory being in the $100,000 range. This is mainly due to the fact that Technicians are in an increasing demand with a limited supply. However, to enter this field you must have a knowledge and love of mechanics as I do. You will be requied to enter into a college and/or the military to be qualified for the field. I entered WyoTech College for their aeronautics program then entered the Air National Guard and completed their training giving me an edge in the industry. If you were to enter this field and not enter the military as I have, then I'd suggest WyoTech College seeing as they were an excellent technical college and have a 90% chance to get you a position at one of their affiliates. The only downside to this field is the manual and mental work involved, it is not for the meek.
The word "salary" comes from salarium, or "salt money" and was used in ancient Rome to describe the wages paid to Roman legionnaires who were compensated in salt.
