I would avoid this area of study if becoming wealthy is a goal of yours. If helping others is more important than your own financial well-being, then consider this field.
I would not choose this degree again as I unfortunately became very ill while attending university. Health reasons forced me to re-evaluate my goals, dreams, etc. and I ultimately decided to start my own business.
Pros: Great personal satisfaction helping others, helps build strong interpersonal skills and positive character traits, can build a large network of friends, co-workers, etc. that are there for you in times of need
Cons: Takes many years in most areas of this field to receive high salaries
This is an excellent area of study for anyone who loves working with people and making a difference in the world around them! Not always easy and doesn't pay well, but it is very rewarding!
Majoring in public policy is a great introduction to a wide variety of social sciences. It is a very good preparation for a wide range of careers from journalism to politics, or for law or business school. While if I went back I might choose a different major because of the path my life has taken, overall it was a great choice.
Enrollment in forensics programs has soared since the TV show "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" first began airing, with many colleges experiencing a 100-400% growth in applicants
