Business Administration and Management, General:
Business management or administration is a major for undecided students. There are not many career choices besides hospitality managemnt or retail. Many private colleges offer this major because they many students are undecided and are not realistic about their career goals. this can make transferring your credits difficult and it can be nearly impossible to find a career in your field. If you are thinking about business then perhaps you should minor in business and choose a major with earning potential. This will maximize your hiring potential. |

Management Science, General:
This type of degree fits well for students who are not sure what they want to do 'when they grow up.' It provides an overview the business world and the management specific information is useful even if you dont plan to manage people directly. In addition to the business courses, information sciences courses make your college degree more well rounded. One note of advice: a degree alone doesnt necessarily make you the best qualified candidate for a job. Try to get actual experience like an internship or part time job that you can use to demonstrate applied skills and abilities to a prospective employer. |

Finance, General:
A tip I wish someone would have told me when I decided on finance as a major would be careful to pick a good place to intern at. After I graduated collage it took me three years to find a non sales job in my field, because of the internship I had during school. I interned at American Express Financial and could not get a job as an analyst because everyone who saw my resume thought I wanted to be a sales person. Although, I did have other selling experience, it certainly was not why I went to college and why I went into the finance field. I wanted to be a credit analyst and on day become a manager. Three years later I am a credit analyst after going threw several bad sales jobs. The best part about my major was that I do use almost everything they have taught me, mainly excel, and Microsoft accesses, but many of the formulas they taught my I have not used very much. If I had to do it over again I would pick finance over again, I have a good career a head of me, I make good money now and will do better in the future once I get more experience, you could say many doors are now and will be open to me. I am not a guy who likes to work 60 hours a week and with this type job my paycheck doesn’t depend on how many hours I am work or how many refinances I sell. In conclusion I would say that the major’s pros are the tools they teach you, you will use everyday, and you can afford to live a nice lifestyle without having to work 60 hours a week or putting to much stress on yourself. A con would be it is hard to get experience in the field and every job in the field wants you to have 3 to 5 years experience. However if you keep at it and get a break from a good company you will be set for a good career |

Business and Personal / Financial Services Marketing Operations:
I enjoyed my major while taking classes. I wish we could have more real life experience with it. I would recommend study for this major. I would still choose this major. The pro's of having a degree in this field is it makes you highly marketable. It would allow you to go into several fields with the same degree. It allows you to go from being a chief financial officer to working as a financial planner, to working for a bank and granting loans. There are certainly many other options, but those are just a few. The cons of a degree in this major, is there is no room for mistakes. A person has to be deliberate in what they are thinking and doing and can not make spur of the moment decisions or actions especially when at work. The major is great.. I would highly recommend it! |

Business management and marketing require great creative thinking. This major is very challenging because it requires new ideas to apeal to the public. If I had to do it over again, I would probably choose accounting. I like things to be orderly and perfect and with marketing and managment is always open to surprises. |

Business Administration and Management, General:
I want to tell to all the people who are intersting in taking a mayor in business administration to do it, it´s a difficult area specially for the competition, a lot of people choose this area and more will take it too, but you learn to see the world in a diferent way and your expectactives change, it opens your mind, don´t worry if you had a very different background, business administration matches with almost everything.
Thank you. |

My tips are to make sure that this is the field that you want and to have patience. I would recommend bookkeeping and accounting. I would not choose this major again. The only pro I have is that it opens alot of doors for opportunity. The cons is if you don't pinpoint your major you'll be lost. |

This major is almost useless. You learn nothing you could not have learned with about three weeks of intense reading. The professors are only useful as far as they offer anectdotes from experience. There is no pro unless you want to be hired by a company that reflexively hires management grads. |

Marketing / Marketing Management, General:
I majored in International Marketing. It was a great way to study business. You get all the basic business basics you need, plus you get the opportunity to study a different language, different culture and different political structure. It is a great way to learn about a different culture. Business is businees, but learning about other people is once in a lifetine opportunity.
I have unfortunately not used my education in the International aren, but I would not trade the experience for the world. If I had to chose a major again, I would probably go with education. As I have gotten older, education has become more interesting to me. I enjoyed my major, but it has not taken me exactly where I wanted to go. |

Accounting:
Tips and advice for people considering Accounting: I would encourage people who do well in introduction to financial accounting to consider majoring in accounting. The job growth potential and amount of money you can make is endless.
Studying: I would highly recommend studying for this major. Once you are taking Audit, Tax, Law for Accountancy, Cost Accounting, and Advanced Financial Accounting and Reporting, it can become very difficult.
I would definately choose this major again. I have seen the rewards of being a CPA and my friend already has their job set up with KPMG making $47,500 per year when they graduate.
Pros: Best major in all of business; jobs upon graduation; ability to tutor people and charge $20 - $30 per hour
Cons: Hardest Business major; studying required; many meet and greets with firms required; Hardest test of your life is the last one (CPA) |

I loved this major. Lots of financial calculations that relate to day-to-day activities. My class was filled with a diverse group of international students from all over the world. Read the Wall Street Journal every Tuesday and Thursday and loved the analysis of business news in class. I would do this major all over again. |

Marketing Research:
My major was marketing research. This was a fun major for me as it not only involves basic business applications but also some psychology. It really delves into how consumers think and what motivates them in purchasing your product. I would like to stress to anyone interested in this major to make sure they take plenty of courses in Sales. The reality of this major is that many positions that require someone with a marketing degree really wants someone who can do Sales. Even if you don't want to do sales and want to concentrate on the marketing research aspect, have that sales training so you don't short change yourself if you need a job and the only openings are for sales people. |

Business / Commerce, General:
I got a degree in Business with an emphasis in marketing. After college graduation, I went on to start my own home-based gift basket business. The skills I learned in school helped me to create my business plan and follow through with it to get my business off the ground. The marketing tools and techniques that I learned in college helped me to promote my business in the most economical and beneficial ways to get my name out there. You learn the ins and outs of businesses of all types (being a manager and what it takes to organize other people, and also international business issues, and finance). All of these things help you in the business world no matter what your focus is. |

Business Administration and Management, General:
Saving up your allowance instead of blowing it each week. Starting your own lawn-mowing business when you were still in grade school. They always said you had a mind for business, and now you're ready to prove it. Business majors often find success in the field of their choice, working their way up the ladder to become managers, executives, and vice presidents in their companies. This major offers focused training in accounting, finance, marketing, economics, human resources, and decision making. You'll learn to budget, organize, plan, hire, direct, control, and manage an organization. And you'll find even more chances for career growth if you go on to earn your MBA. |

Accounting:
I enjoyed this major. My major was accounting. I fully enjoyed this. If you are considering accounting, make sure you like working with numbers, forms and sitting at a desk 99% of the time. If I had to do it all over again, I would. The only thing I don't like is being stuck behind a desk. |
