Graphic Communications, Other:
My major was interactive media design and would not change a thing about my career path. It is a great field. Be prepared to take what you learn from school, and use that as a building block for what you WILL learn on your own out in the real world, in your own time. |

Graphic Design:
I would recommend studying Graphic Design if you enjoy being creative and designing various things. I would still choose this as a major if I had to do it again. The pros of having a degree in this major is that you get to be creative and create different things for different projects so you are not always doing the exact same thing every day every week. The cons of this major is that you will not be able to please all your clients. Your clients may not always pick what you feel is the best design. Your work is always up for criticism good or bad. Also, if considering this as a major, I would keep in mind that it can be expensive to study. You may need various software programs such as Adobe Photoshop. The programs are not cheap. It will also cost you to get items printed. |

Apparel and Textile Marketing Management:
This is a great major for a very creative and motivated person. You have to be the top of your class to succeed and find work. Textiles are a growing industry and learning the marketing/management side of of things will take you far. This is the kind of major that can take you down several roads in the future. |

Do as many internships as possible. Buy the Adobe programs at the student discount and explore them. |

Interior Design:
My advice for people considering a career in interior design is be sure the college is top rated for this major. Many design firms will only hire from F.I.T. and Pratt Institute. I graduated from F.I.T. and was able to get a job immediately. Commerical interiors concentration is the best way to go for getting a well paying job. Although I'm no longer an interior designer, it major was very helpful in my present career as an antique dealer. The only cons of having a degree in this major is its preceived as a "women who lunch" career. |

Graphic Communications, General:
If you are already an accomplished artist, you shouldn't have any trouble achieving this degree. However, if you generally lack artistic ability and/or creativity, this will be a chore for you. If I had to do it over again, I would probably still choose this major, but I would take some basic art classes first. Pros: It's fun to be creative, learning how to use technology in an artistic way is refreshing, many skills are handy for day-to-day applications. Cons: Without experience in the field, getting a job in graphic design (or a related field) is difficult, learning new technology can be very stressful |

I will not advice to go in this type of field if they do not have any interest.I will recommend this field to those who can make out ideas within seconds. If I had to do over again I will not choose this major at all.It is good for those who are very good at flirting and not good for those people who can not communicate as well as do not like to meet people. |

Animation, Interactive Technology, Video Graphics and Special Effects:
This major is booming with the advent of online video and podcasting. More interactive technologies will become adopted creating more demand for design skills. I love my job and am glad I got into this major. |

Graphic Design:
Be prepared to work your butt off! (If you go to a good school for it). I'd recommend this highly. I thought I knew so much before college but I've learned so much from making it my major. I would definately pick this major if I had to do it over again. I might do photo as a minor though..The pros are they it's not often that you have to carry around a giant portfolio of paintings or anything like that, plus you probably won't have to take a lot of math classes! The cons, well, it's a ton of work, but that's good if you can handle it, but it's also very competative. Having a degree in graphic design opens you up to endless amounts of jobs. |

Graphic Design:
It's fun but you must be dedicated and ready to work. It's expensive! It's a must to have a computer, and the adobe software which is a bit pricey. Overall it's rewarding and satisfying in the end.I recommend this to anyone that likes computer, organizaton, art and designing. There are so many jobs out there that need graphic designers, you can't go wrong. |

Graphic Design:
Graphic Design is only for those who really want to work in an artistic field. While computers are being used more and more, just enjoying the computer side is not enough. You need to be artistically talented and study art and computers. I would do it again, as I enjoy working in artistic jobs. After a few years you can choose to go on and work for yourself. The biggest con is deadlines, when a client wants a product you need to deliver, and on time. |

Commercial Photography:
Photography is the best thing I ever studied. I now run my own studio and love every minute I'm working. It was tough getting through school as this is a very expensive Major. I would do it all over again, everytime I think about all the friends I made in the Studio and all the Awards I've won. |

Graphic Design:
Graphic Design is a whole lot of fun. You get to be creative every day. If you take enough art history and studio art classes with it you don't have the "sitting at a computer" problem. You become close with your classmates because you spend so much time working together and critiquing each other. I rarely had final tests, so I was the envy of all my friends, but in exchange I had final projects which were due a week earlier and could take half a semester to do. It's very stressful. You have to work a lot outside of class and you can't just sit down with a book and study. Graphic Designers are awesome people and in general studying it is a lot of fun, I would definitely recommend it to those interested. |

Interior Design:
This major is more than just what you see on trading spaces and HGTV. It's more about drwaing up floor plans, codes, and all the technical aspects than making crafts and coming up with color combinations. If you are a creative person who has high attention to detail this may just be for you. It takes many hours to do up your blueprints so it is very time-consuming, but well worth it! |

Graphic Design:
For years, I wanted to be out there, in the art world. As I grew older and the unfortunate truths of life became more apparent to me, I began to realize that simply being an artist for art's sake was not a very profitable venture. And so I was brought into the world of commercial art.
I found graphic design to be a wonderful medium between a "real" job and the job of an artist. I enjoyed school more than ever while I was studying graphic design. In high school, I was a C student, barely scraping by. In college, however, I found a spark of new life within myself, and I flourished with straight A's and a permanent spot on the Dean's list.
Unfortunately, having a degree alone in this major gets you nowhere unless you continue to work hard on your portfolio after you finish school. I am currently working in banking. I don't consider it my career, just something to pay my way through life until I find my place. I continue to work on my portfolio and do small jobs on the side.
I would recommend this major to others, if they are dedicated and creative enough. First and foremost, this field requires creativity. All the technical training in the world means nothing unless you've got a proper brain to think with, a proper brain to come up with new ideas. To use an old cliche, you need to think outside of the box.
Sometimes, also, you need to think within it. Or above it. You need to be capable of thinking of every possibility. |
