Choosing a major can be difficult. I personally had 4. Finally, after taking personal assessment tests and speaking to an advisors, I narrowed down to two subjects and decided to double major. There many ways to go about choosing your major, explore them all. _________________ R Cintron, MBA |

My plan has a personality test. It might be a great place to start. _________________ R Cintron, MBA |

| You know I tried one of those as well and they really can pinpoint what your strengths are. Plus, you may not even be aware of all the careers out there so! Sometime actuallyt going to a counselor or something like that is expensive, but helpful. Otherwise there are a lot of books that might be helpful. There is one called What Color Is Your Parachute and its great for assessing your strengths and weaknesses -- and for providing some direction. |

| I have used career assessments to help me when deciding on a major. I also consider my own personal interests, talents and strengths. |

| I always knew what I wanted to major in in college, which turned out to be lucky since I didn't have an advisor for the first 3/4 of my freshman year. Something about him leaving and them trying to restructure the arrangement. Anyway, I am looking forward to taking some of the assessment tests on here though, just to see where my strengths are. Who knows, I might surprise even myself! |

The advisor role is essential in college. However, they are not the boss of you, so you need to take control of your education. _________________ R Cintron, MBA |

I thought I wanted to be a physicist. Then I hit that horrible stumbling block known as multivariable calculus. I just couldn't do the math. You can't do physics without the math. I had no idea how much damn math is involved.
Picking a major is tough. I think it's important to keep an open mind and really explore what's behind each one. You may find one that you hadn't considered which suits you a lot better than what you think you *should* study.
Don't be afraid of a major that sounds frivolous because you worry about getting a job. Getting a job is all about the skills you actually have. My older brother majored in graphic design and now he's a web developer. My younger brother majored in Fine Art and he's an architect. I majored in comp sci and i'm a computer programmer. _________________ Born in throes, ‘tis fit that man should live in pains and die in pangs! So be it, then!

| I went through two majors. Now I am in graduate school. It is a tough decision to make. There are many to choose from. |

There are so many majors to select from which does make it difficult. It is not hard to find more than one major of interest. I think that is where guidance counselors and some assessments can help. |

I'll have two majors after next semester.
Definitely could have done it in just a bit over four years, but it took me longer. _________________ kissing |
