West Virginia University is a great school in a classic college town. In spite of having a small town feel and being located in WV; the school is actually pretty close to places like Pittsburgh, PA and Washington, DC. The administration and the professors are the most personable I have ever met. The sense of campus community and spirit are really amazing.
On the downside, the school is not diverse from a cultural perspective. Also the price of attendance is climbing at an alarming rate (WVU used to be quite affordable, no matter what your residency status -- now that is no longer the case). For better or for worse, Morgantown is ruled by college students. So if you are a non-traditional student...you may get frustrated with the happy-go-lucky atmosphere.
The school is rather large, with a lot of students. Staff seems to care more about students that are in majors that will bring the most money. Orientation time at this school is a tough time for students that aren't in a large major, some students may have to go out of their way to register for classes and meet with their advisors. No one seems to know what is going on, and you must contact several different people to recieve an answer.
Positively, this school has a lot of pride from staff and students alike.
This is a great college i would definatly recommend it to anyone. I would go back right now to this school. It is really fun and a good school but you may be tempted to party too much. :)
West Virginia University (WVU)is a great college to attend. It has a "warm, down-home" feel, even with a stundent population of nearly 30,000. There is always something to do around town, and contrary to popular belief it doesn't always involve alcohol!!
Nearby WVU are great spots for outdoor adventure and escaping civilization to wind down after a stressfull week. Check out Cooper's Rock or rent a rowboat on Tygart Lake.
And lastly, don't forget your hiking boots for campus, it is the West Virginia Hills afterall!
I liked WVU but I have to admit I have some issues with them. Many of the administrators are very un-helpful and it seems that they nickel and dime you with fees every time you turn around. Also in the time that I have been here they keep tearing out green spaces to build more buildings. Outside of the the atmosphere is pretty good, the party scene is great, and you cant beat the tailgates for football games. The education was pretty good and I have no complaints about that.
