Although WSU is located in a very desolate area--Pullman--it is one of the best experiences I have had! I started out at a small, private school in Los Angeles. A huge city, so much to do, so much to see. As fun as LA was, the school had no spirit, no activities, etc. Everyone went home for the weekend. Being from Washington, I couldn't just fly home every weekend when everyone left!

I transferred to WSU my sophomore year and my only regret is that I didn't start out as a freshman. Just thinking about Pullman and WSU makes me get all sentimental. There is so much spirit, so much pride....I love everything about it! You can be anywhere and if a fellow Coug sees you sporting WSU gear they'll throw a "GO COUGS" at you. It's a great feeling. Although I'm done with school and away from Pullman, it will always hold a special place in my heart. GO COUGS!

Great school with great community. I would recommend this college for those looking to have a well rounded college experience. like most schools, getting an education is mostly what you put into it and WSU is the same.

Pros: Community, social, accessible teachers, safe, athletics
Cons: far from major city, academic reputation in some areas

This is a great school, even though it seems to be in the middle of no where. School spirit is one of the best in the country. No matter win or lose we always admit our mistakes with pride. The weather is another great thing, skiing in the winter and going to lakes in the summer, fishing and hiking all around. I would most definetly choose WSU always. Not only has my entire family gone there, my children are choosing to do the same. It is a great family tradition.

Washington State University is a very good place to experience an undergraduate or higher education. It is located in the city of Pullman in the Palouse region of Washington, which is mostly farmland. The school's geographical location provides students with an opportunity to easily focus on studying, as well as enjoying abundant outdoor activities. For me college was more of a life learning experience rather than strictly a "books learning" one. From the moment you arrive, attendees of Washington State University will most definitely feel the strong Cougar pride and the welcoming attitude of faculty and upperclassmen. It's really a large University with a small school feel. If you are considering this college the deciding factor may be whether it's location is right for you. The education is world class, but some may not like the relative isolation of eastern Washington. I would recommend this university to any student. Many of their educational programs are highly regarded and as a bonus the sports teams generally do very well. If I had to do it again I would most definitely attend this university. My degree gave me skills that helped me get a good job, my experiences have helped me gain a broader sense of the world, and I would not trade anything for the awesome adventure of attending a university for four years. Washington State University prepared me for the next stage of my life.

Washington State University offers you a chance at two things. Partying hard and studying hard. There's really nothing else in between. The campus is literally in the middle of nothing with farmland abound.
The student to professor ratio is getting a bit worse as more students arrive and professors leave.
The campus is currently undergoing a lot of reservations, which means a lot of dining options are thrown out the window. If you plan on going to the dorms, you have a choice of going to a small cafeteria to eat or an expensive cafeteria. That's it. The other options are currently closed.
You definitely need a car and you need to know when and how to winterize your car.

WSU is a great college for psych. While they have a great psych department to study in, it is even better to help with your sanity if you should happen to be a little bit crazy, like most of us are from time to time. The biggest issue at the school is that many students are unprepared for the sudden increase in responsibility and don't make it to the second year. My advice: Save it for the weekends.

It's a good college in a small town so you don't get distracted because there aren't many things to do. Thats why I chose the college because you just focus on school and friends. I would still choose to go to this college. I think the pros and cons are both that its in a small town. Some people like that, some people don't.

When I began attendance at Wazzu 16 years ago, it had a strong reputation as a "party school". Today I hear the campus has been cleaned up which may or may not be a good thing in a prospective student's eyes. Overall my experience was positive. Pros: for a large state university, there is a community feel. I think this stems much from the fact that Pullman is a very small college town and is geographically very isolated from any metro area. Students are very friendly and there are almost no commuter students still living with their parents so it is very easy to make friends. Classes were overall good - I did have some really horrific professors but I assume that would be the case with any state school that had tenure and research grants (as many professors are not there primarily for teaching opportunities and therefore designate very little energy or passion into their classes). I liked the size - big enough for a PAC-10 football team and some decent cultural experiences, but small enough that you will run into some familiar faces when you are on the hill. Cons: It does get very cold in Pullman in the winter. Expect snow and ice for several months. The geography is very hilly and you will get a workout while walking to and from class (although this can be seen as a pro). There are some fairly large lecture classes that will be harder to personally interact with the professor, and some classes are taught by graduate students (however I have found that sometimes grad students are more passionate about their subject and class than professors can be). Because of Pullman's isolation from a metro area, you might miss out on some of the college experience of a cultural big city to explore. Overall I do recommend this college; however I suggest touring WSU and some other competing colleges to help decide if it is right for you.

If you enjoy a rural scene and like being out in the middle of a lot of wheat fields, this is the college for you. Many consider WSU a college for people who couldn't get into the UW, but WSU has some outstanding programs including their Vet Med, Agriculture and Communications programs. If you very liberal, then this college probably isn't the one for you. Most students and staff are on the conservative side. The people are mostly laid back and friendly. Since the location of the University is somewhat remote, WSU has gained the reputation as a party school. If you are someone who always craves large city living and highly stimulating, culturally enriching activities, then this University is not the one for you. But if you are looking for a place to get a good education where life is a little slower and where your professors are readily available, then WSU may be a good choice for you.

If you're a psych major, the classes are pretty helpful and you'll learn a lot. It tends to be more strongly experimental oriented. Although the psych classes are great, the advising is terrible! All they do is determine whether you fulfill course requirements. You can do that yourself online. There's only one or two advisors for the entire department. You really have to be proactive for your best interests, at least in that department. For instance, in addition to obtaining your bachelor's degree, you could also obtain various specialized certificates that would make you more competitive in the field after you graduate.
