I enjoyed this college. There are many great teachers here. It is a very beautiful campus located in a state park with a ton of hiking and golfing etc. The dorms and university apartments are not the best. I would recommend living in an apartment somewhere nearby.
This extension of the UW system is not too widely known, but it should be! Its basically a commuter college with a lot of adult students, but there are some typical students that live in the dorms. The science curriculum is a killer, as is the math curriculum, but the rest are pretty run of the mill. Most students here come for business or teaching degrees. The science curriculum if one is a pre-med student prepares one very well for real medical schools, and there is a great pre-health advisor and volunteer coordinator to get you set up on your way to med school. The only downsides to UW Parkside are parking(not enough) and food (too expensive).
UW-P is a joke. This is high school on steroids. Most majors are nearly worthless. The faculty is pretty lackluster. Student orgs are all controlled by the administration, and spend their time screwing over the student body. Financial aid is usually late, doesn't usually cover your expenses. Student housing is a nightmare to get into, and even worse to get out of. Parking is nonexistent.
Parkside is an ok school. It fits very well in the middle; you could love it or hate it. THe best experience is to be in the dorms. I'd say about 65% of the school commutes though, and there arn't very many opportunities to meet new people, so living in the dorms is your best bet for the best college experience. Classes are pretty easy, depending on your major of course. Some are smaller, some of the BOK classes are quite large and easy to slack off in. Overall, there really isn't anything special about it. It is set next to the Petrifying Springs Park, so the view is quite lovely.
