Here is what the University of New Hampshire graduate school program is all about: Self-reliance! Yes, I learned about science. Yes, I learned to teach lab sections. Yes, I even gave lectures and did a thesis. Overall, though, no one took me by the hand and led me through school. That bit of self-motiviation to learn and finish my research all on my own was exactly what I needed. Maybe not what I wanted, but what I needed. I was in the Zoology Deptartment and I learned skills both science related and not science related. In addition to animal behavior, ecology, and statistics, I also learned how to make a stellar power point presentation. I even made a bunch of posters for conferences. But I also learned how to run computer programs and fix computers myself. I can fix just about anything that is wrong with a desktop computer short of replacing the motherboard. All because I needed things done and I was the only one I had working for me! I am not saying I was alone, just that I had to ask for help, it didn't come to me. And, in addition to the grad school studying, I played intermural summer softball, took trips to Mt. Washington, camped on an island in Squam Lake, and saw a bunch of moose in the north country. It was a great 4 1/2 years. THANKS UNH!

I highly recommend this school. Students considering this school should do a personal tour. The tour guides are all superficial and like to discuss the schools statistics and history. You can find all that in the handouts at the admissions office. Have a friend show you around or pay a student $10-$20 bucks to show you around town. You'll have a much better time and get to know the students and faculty much better. After all, you will spend more time with students and faculty then you will trying to remember when the library was built or how many books it has. I would definitely go here again. I'm considering a masters here at the moment. PRO: great faculty, very open-minded campus, and very safe. UNH Police are fully qualified police officers and have training just like any officer. CON: CS majors should take as many non-java programming classes as possible. Many jobs require these skills and the cs department is strong on teaching java.

UNH is a great school. The campus is beautiful and it has a lot of amazing programs, such as business and nursing. I would reccomned this college to everyone, as there are so many great fields of study. I would definitely come here if I had it to do all over again, I can't imagine myself anywhere else. Some of the downfalls of the university are the weather as it can get very cold, and the lack of ethnic diversity. Also, the campus is kind of in the middle of nowehre so there isn't much varied night life.
