I attended this college as a criminal justice major. The college has many instructors with strong criminal justice backgrounds as well as a large student library for doing research for various classes. Parking is expensive. The University is located in a fairly good part of town. I would probably not attend the University again due to the fact that it is made out to be more than what it really was. My advice to future students is to register for classes early because classes fill up fast. It is also advised that you get as much financial aid as possible because tuition is expensive. The University does however offer several scholarships for students on the financial aid website.
If you are considering UNR, be prepared for great seasons! Reno definitely has 4 distinct seasons. Be prepared for hot summers and cold, snowy, winters! UNR has a wonderful medical school and a great college of education! UNR also offers a lot of extra-curricular activities and room and board within walking distance. Lake Tahoe and Sacramento are really close by as well! If you do not already know, the University is centrally located to downtown, making it close to the casinos. However, convenient shopping is not close by making having a car a must.
