UMR (University of Missouri-Rolla) is a college dedicated to engineering and science. If you are aspiring to be an engineer this is a cheap and good college for you. The tuition is cheaper than most state universities and if you are a graduate student the scholarships from Teaching and Research activities is fantastic. Rolla is probably the cheapest place in US with the monthly 2 bed room rents ranging from $300-400. The school is NOT strong in sports so you can be assured of a calm place to concentrate on studies. There are a lot of international students so you can get a great experience interacting with students from other nations.
It was a great school, A lot of hard work was required, and there was socially almost nothing to do in the town. But overall it was a positive experience
This university is definitely not an easy one to graduate from, and not the one you want to attend if you want to breeze through. If you are willing to put the effort in and work, this school will more than pay off in the end. When you graduate with your degree, the avenues you can travel down are amazing and vastly different. Right now the people that I graduated with and myself are in successful careers and we would all say that we are happy and pleased with where we ended up. You get to pick the job and career you want, not just the only one that was available. Even though most people take 5 years, now that I look back on it, it wasn't that long of a time to be in the place in life I am now.
