I really can't imagine what planet the other reviewers are on that they gave this school a positive review. I attended this school and lived on campus for a year and a half until I couldn't take it any more. Of all the people I met there, only 2 actually graduated from there. The student services are non-existent, there is absolutely no sense of a collegiate or community atmosphere, the classes are over crowded, and the instructors do not care about their students. The best instructor I had was one the was brought in from another local university because the professor I was suppose to have had a heart attack. Besides the fact that the campus is ugly, it is unsafe. There were homeless people sleeping on campus. It was easy to break into the dorms. There was nothing to do and no student activities. Anyone who chooses to go to this school is crazy. I sincerely wished someone warned me. Leaving that hell hole was the best decision I ever made. I transferred to (and graduated from) another state school in central Illinois, and the difference was absolutely amazing.

This is a fairly good college. Relatively cheap compared to most other universities, located in the city and has a great staff. The only downside I would say is that many of the buildings on campus are old and not too pleasing to the eye.

This school is full of bright, determined and motivated people, because the students here were not raised with a silver spoon, as you may see in other more prestigious schools. There is a wide diversity in the student body, so you have an advantage when you enter the workplace. There are many brilliant professors who do more than simply lecture. Many of them really care for the success of their students, and are willing to invest personal time and guidance to them. There are many companies in the surrounding area of downtown Chicago, some of which have an established relationship with the university. Therefore internship and job opportunities are great. I treasured my experience at this university, and I would definitely recommend anyone who was interested to visit the campus and consider schooling from UIC.

The University of Illinois at Chicago is the perfect college for the student who is struggling economically. With tuition comfortably under five thousand dollars, this campus offers everything that would be expected from a major university. Furthermore, the social climate at this school is very welcoming. The student body is the most diverse in the nation, and there is so much to enjoy from the great city of Chicago. As would be expected, the campus can get crowded and the classes fill up quickly, but these are issues at any university in a major city like Chicago. The biggest drawback is the campus itself; it is a post-modernist architectural nightmare, but don't let this fool you, the UIC school of architecture is one of the most highly regarded in the region.

University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine provides you with a very solid education, paving a bright future for a career in medicine. Because of my education, I have gotten interviews at Yale, Harvard, Duke, Wash U in St.Louis, and Johns Hopkins for residency training. But, I do feel the biggest and most annoying drawback of the school is the Office of Student Affairs. The office is supposed to work on behalf of the students, but they are ineffcient, rude, and make students lives very difficult. You must be very proactive with maintaining your immunization records, keeping copies of your health forms, rotation forms, etc because they lose them all and make your life difficult at times. Otherwise, it has been a great experience.
