This is a great college! It is very diverse, very dynamic. I would highly recommend this college for someone who is looking for an academic challenge and a large university experience. I loved my time at UCLA. I would definitely go there again. The pros are: location, excellent staff/programs, lots of activities, great sports teams, quality for price, and more. Cons: Large classes can be impersonal if you don't go out of your way to meet and interact with faculty, parking and housing are not easy to get.

I loved my time at UCLA. The biggest tip that I can give to incoming freshman is to live in the dorms. Don't choose the suites or the rooms with private bathrooms. Live the high rises. You will meet a lot more people that way and make friendships that will last the rest of your life. I recommend UCLA to any student who wants to attend a large school. The academics are great, as are the sports programs. And you can't beat the weather in Southern California! I would definitely choose UCLA again if I was going back to school. There are some cons to consider with UCLA. Classes are generally large so you rarely get to know your professors. In addition, it is a big campus so you may have to walk very far and very fast to make it to class on time. Many people don't realize all that UCLA has to offer. Sometimes joining a club or two is the best way to make a large campus seem smaller. There is a club out there for everyone - just choose the one that interests you and you'll be glad you joined.

UCLA is a very competitive school mainly because of the name only. UCLA rarely makes the top 25 universities in the country, but it's still one of the hardest to get in. Being part of the UC system, tutition is relaltively cheap if you are a California resident.
Pros: Strong Alumni - It will help you build connections in getting hired. One of the best NCAA sports programs in the nation.
Cons: Way too crowded. Parking is very limited. If you're not able to live near campus or in the dorms, commuting will be hard.
Still I would recommend UCLA, but if I had to today, I would not go there. I'd pick Berkeley or San Diego.

I'm so glad I chose to go to UCLA. Out of all the UC's this one is the most well-rounded -- strong academics, strong sports programs, and lots of extracurricular activities. The only thing negative I have to say is that it's a very big campus and has a lot of students -- it can be easy for someone to feel lost. I recommend new students join clubs or work on campus, or just belong to some organization in order to feel more a part of things. Other than that, I have nothing be fantastic things to say about my educational experience. And I've made lifelong friends.

UCLA will be what you make of it. You can partake in groundbreaking research with some of the best scientists in the world, appear in plays at the Geffen playhouse, or be a part of the winningest athletic program in the country (a total of 100 NCAA championships and countless Olympians). However the sheer size of the school can be intimidating. In order to appreciate and enjoy what the campus has to offer, a student must be proactive in becoming a part of the school. The setting of Los Angeles has its own share of pros and cons depending on who you are. Big city life can be an exhilarating experience, or a constant headache, all depending on your point of view. Asking yourself if a school is great or not is missing the point; the only question worth asking is if a school is great for you.

Choosing UCLA was one of the best decisions of my life. I picked UCLA over USC and UC Berkeley, and I would definitely do it again. I strongly believe that the only reason not to attend UCLA is if you do not want a large school. Otherwise, there's something for everyone. I highly recommened joining the sailing team. Academically, classes range in terms of difficulty, size, and enjoyability. I have participated in the college honors program, which has helped me find some good classes. Choosing an interdisciplinary major has also helped a lot. The social scene, like everything else about UCLA, is huge, and has something for everyone.

I would advise students attending this college to get to know there professors very well. They should go to office hours and ask a lot of questions. This well help the students understand the material better, get better grades, and make good contacts when it comes time to get letters of recommendation. I would definitely recommend going to this school and if I had to do it again I would still attend this college. The pros of going to UCLA is good academics, diverse student population, good libraries, beautiful campus, and great off campus activities. The cons are that the lower division classes can be pretty crowded and it is difficult to get help from professors in these large lower division classes. A few things that I didn't know that people should know about UCLA is that parking is extremely difficult to find in this area and rent is very high.

I definately would recommend this college. There are so many different degrees to chose from, so it is easy to find something you want to do. My advice would be to get involved in undergraduate research as often as you can. It will be easier to form relationships with your professors and gain useful experience. The biggest drawback to this school is the unit cap policy. It is unfortunate that students must be rushed through school, however, with careful planning of courses, you can get the most of your experience. I also recommend taking general education courses early on, but be sure they count for multiple colleges within the university. If you decide to change majors, you can still transfer classes you have already taken. I also recommend being a notetaker for the Office of Students with Disabilities. It is an easy way to make money while helping people out.

This is a great school, especially for those who love humanities, they are leaders in several subjects such as sociology and psychology. There is one major downfall if you are from out of state, or even from out of town and that is the shortage of affordable housing. I never lived on campus so I don't know about student housing, but I do know that the housing that is in the general vicinity of the school is extremely overpriced and you end up sharing a two room apartment with like three or four others to make it affordable, just something to be aware of if you are considering attending UCLA. All in all it is a great school, they have very good faculty and the facilities and activities on campus are good enough to suit anyone's needs and interests. Plus they usually have at least one really good sports team to root for during the year! As for me I would definitely choose UCLA again if I was deciding again what university to attend, but as for me I might choose a different major, so just make sure you pick the right subject not only for the present but for the future.

I loved UCLA. Beware, you can't mind that you are simply and ID number to them. You won't get much attention as an undergraduate and it is firstly a research institution. But he variety in people you meet, the availability of resources, the options for activity and the location is unbeatable. If you are a good indepedent learner and prioritizer, this is the school for you.
