This is one of those "second tier" universities way out in the middle of nowhere in East Texas. The official list of protected minorities does not include sexual orientation, however I found no blatant homophobia. The graduate program in Computer Science is dominated by students from India which results in reverse discrimination toward Americans. The Computer Science department lacks good leadership. I changed majors half-way through the program to Higher Education where I found a much more student-centric environment with small class sizes, a more diverse student student population, and generally good professors. One in particular, Dr. Rodger Pool, is outstanding. The cost of attendance is lower than most schools and it is located near the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Some administrative departments like the Provost and Dining Services do an outstanding job, others are lacking. A new science building was completed a year ago that contains a state-of-the art planetarium. The performing arts department does really outstanding shows like "A Flea in Her Ear" and "Once Upon a Mattress". A new student center will open in a year and there's a new Rec Center for those who like sports.
Chancellors at the College of William and Mary have included some very famous retired statesmen, including Margaret Thatcher (UK Prime Minister), Henry Kissinger (US Secretary of State), Warren E. Burger (US Chief Justice), and, currently, Sandra Day O'Connor (US Associate Justice).
